How much information should I provide?

Consider the information you need to let people know about in an emergency or if you can't speak for yourself. This includes your medical conditions, medication and any allergies you may have. You can also let us know about any specific wishes you have such as on advance decision, if you're an organ donor or any next of kin details. This ensures that vital details are engraved on your disc and that important information is accessible should it be required in an emergency. We can also scan documents such as ICD cards and advance decisions to hold safely on your record. Find out more

Can you buy jewellery without the full MedicAlert service?

MedicAlert jewellery complements your service. You need both, so we don't offer one without the other. Your emergency record is held securely on our database and can be accessed 24/7 in an emergency. As space is limited on your disc your record holds all the information important in an emergency that might not fit on your disc. Therefore your service supports your jewellery and must be purchased. Different products are better suited to different activities. Stainless steel is our most robust product. Leather products are not suitable for swimming or bathing. It is best to wash your jewellery with soap and warm water and dry it with a soft cloth after swimming to keep it clean.

Do you offer Nickel free products?

To deliver the quality and finish that you would expect from MedicAlert I.D. jewellery, our metal types may contain small amounts of nickel and other base metals. It just isn't practical to monitor the tiny detailed composition of every metal component in our range. All of the silver (925) and gold (9 carat) that we work with meets strict quality standards and has been hallmarked by the UK Assay Office, but the precise alloy of each component may be ever so slightly different based on which supplier we have sourced each component from. Many of our members with metal allergies successfully wear gold or silver items, but it depends on how severe your reaction is. The only way to be sure that you will be safe is to choose a "barrier" product; where there is limited, or no metal contact with your skin. To find the MedicAlert jewellery that limits the contact between metal and skin, please use the search criteria in the shop to select "For metal allergies".
