How can MedicAlert help to support the work of Accident and Emergency Staff?

The information recorded on a MedicAlert Emblem and in member's personal record will help you if:

  • A patient is admitted and you need to clarify their identification
  • The patient doesn't know what medication they are on
  • The patient has allergies that need clarifying
  • The patient has an advance decision and you need to find out the contents and decipher it's validity
  • You are unsure whether to admit the patient to hospital and would like to know their medical history
  • The patient wishes to donate their organs
  • You want to locate a patient's next of kin
  • You want to contact the patient's doctor

What proportion of calls come from hospital staff?

Currently 64% of the calls made to our emergency line are enquiries made by hospital staff and in 2007 the majority of these calls were in relation to retrieving information about member's existing conditions and medications being taken, implant information and requesting copies of member's advance decisions.
