Emergency Professionals

Taking the pressure off of emergency professionals

Emergency professionals are coming under increasing pressure to hit targets and control risk in their workplace. All local health and emergency services are now appearing in nationally published league tables and the number of litigation claims made by the general public against the medical profession and the emergency services is continuing to rise. These two factors bring with them corresponding increases in the amount of time diverted away from the core care services, the cost of professional insurance cover and last but certainly not least the pressure felt by professionals during their working day.

The success of MedicAlert's identification system depends entirely on a reciprocal relationship between The MedicAlert Foundation and the emergency professionals who come into contact with our Members.

In any given situation, MedicAlert Emblems enable professionals to identify Members with underlying medical conditions, obtain vital information immediately, access further medical/personal information held on our central records and therefore deal with the Member efficiently and effectively. The more potential Members are encouraged to join, the lower the risk of a medical error occurring during their treatment.

Professionals in all health and emergency services need to check patients for MedicAlert Emblems as a matter of routine. They need to recognise an Emblem when they see it and what to do when one is found.

They also need to encourage potential members to join.
