Help for Stroke Survivors

The Stroke Association and The MedicAlert Foundation have joined forces to help improve the lives of stroke survivors and also raise funds. For every person that joins MedicAlert through The Stroke Association's website shopping pages, £5 will be donated to the charity.

MedicAlert is the only Registered Charity that provides life-saving identification jewellery for people with hidden medical conditions and allergies. Many people enjoy extra peace of mind from the knowledge that their MedicAlert Emblem gives emergency personnel access to their medical records 24 hours a day, anywhere in the world.

Chris Lunn from MedicAlert says:-

We are delighted to be working with The Stroke Association on this initiative. We know that having the MedicAlert service can enhance the lives of those who have had a stroke. Having the MedicAlert Emblem could enable people to enjoy a greater level of independence and provide peace of mind for family and friends. In an emergency, the MedicAlert Emblem speaks for you, when you cannot.'

As a MedicAlert member, you wear a bracelet or necklet engraved with a personal identification number, main medical conditions and an emergency telephone number enabling medical personnel to have immediate access to your vital records. By phoning the emergency number, medical personnel can gain information such as your medical conditions, name and address, doctor's details, current drug therapy and next of kin. The Emergency line is manned by the London Ambulance service 24-hours a day and a translation service is available in over 100 languages.

Monika Milne, Commercial Ventures Development Manager at The Stroke Association says:-

‘The Stroke Association is pleased to be working with MedicAlert to offer stroke survivors a product that will provide greater independence, as well as reassurance for family and carers.  We are also delighted to be able to offer the public another way of helping stroke survivors across the UK.'

Chris says:-

‘The MedicAlert service could also be extremely valuable for a carer. The Emblem could carry the details of the people they care for and so, in an emergency those that they care for could be supported appropriately.'
