MedicAlert's Musical Member!

Samuel PowellSamuel Powell, 11 from Erwood, Builth Wells has been a member of MedicAlert since he was a baby.  Putting his talents to good use, for the last three years Samuel has held his own music event, "Music on the Lawn" in his local village to raise money for MedicAlert and other charities close to Samuel's Heart.

After Samuel was diagnosed with a serious nut allergy at just 18 months Samuel's mother, Wendy, decided to register him with MedicAlert, "I wanted to know that if anything should happen to Samuel when I am not with him paramedics can gain access to his medical records immediately".

A staggering £1500 was raised from the event in August, which was held in Samuel's grandparents back garden.  Music on the Lawn was attended by over 100 people who included local villagers, members of the Local Young Farmers Club and friends and family. The event has built such a good reputation that people attend from within a 14 mile radius!

A presentation evening was held on Tuesday 21st October at the Greyhound Inn in Builth Wells.  A representative from the Llandrindod Wells Lions club attended on behalf of MedicAlert and was presented with a cheque from Samuel.

The event proved to be once again a great success and we look forward to hearing about the next one!

Royal Relations

The MedicAlert team attended various Royal Mail sites promoting our services to Royal Mail employees as part of the Royal Mail Women's Health Week.

The main feature of the health week is the opportunity for employees to get a free health check and learn about various health care services available to them.  MedicAlert exhibited at three sites throughout November.

Save the One You love

This September MedicAlert launched the Save the One You Love campaign in which we asked as many people as possible to encourage their loved ones to join MedicAlert and take advantage of our life saving service.

MedicAlert's campaign is urging people to encourage their loved ones to invest in a life saving identification system in the hope that more lives are saved this year.  Chris Lunn, Head of Communications says:-

‘Our research suggests that many people are encouraged to join MedicAlert by a loved one. This includes parents who are concerned about their children's condition through to family members who are concerned about an elderly relative. We know how vital the MedicAlert service can be in an emergency situation and so the message is clear, save the one you love.'

The campaign proved to be really successful and gained support from celebrities such as Arlene Phillips, from BBC's Strictly Come Dancing and Kym Marsh from Coronation Street.
