Rainbows and Vehicles Save Lives!
In late 2007 The MedicAlert Foundation held an exciting ‘Design a Band' competition asking children from up and down the county to come up with new, colourful designs for their exclusive edition Velcro bands.
This special event was held as MedicAlert celebrated 40 years of service in the UK.
The competition proved to be extremely popular with a high standard of entries. However only 2 new Kids Bands were chosen as winners and have now been produced for sale!
The boy's band was designed by Daisy Hancox aged 7 from Huddersfield and includes a range of vehicles.
The girl's band designed by Siobhan Koefman aged 13 from Berkshire includes a rainbow and stars. (see pictures attached)
Daisy's mum explains how the band has been useful in more ways than one,
"Daisy always wears her new band as her friends comment on how fashionable and nice it looks. I'm happy that she wears her band as it has an emblem attached to it which highlight's Daisy's hidden medical condition. I feel a lot less anxious when I am not with Daisy as I know that in an emergency her medical details would be readily available."
Chris Lunn from MedicAlert says:-
‘We were thrilled to receive such a high standard of designs during this competition. More than a quarter of MedicAlert members are under 16 years of age and have a variety of hidden conditions such as diabetes, asthma or allergies. Providing children with an opportunity to purchase an attractive band that is fun to wear is very important and could help save lives.'
The new Kids Bands are available to buy for a limited period from £24.95, to find out more visit http://www.medicalert.org.uk/ or Tel. 0800 581420.
