Handcrafted by our team of jewellers

Every piece of MedicAlert ID jewellery is handcrafted using the most advanced methods and tools available in the market. We go out of our way to make sure that every order receives the care and attention our members deserve.

Our collection of jewellery suits a variety of tastes, and we work hard to create fresh designs that keep up with the latest trends. We use leading design software to prototype new emblem styles, make refinements and view the designs from all possible angles. We then produce each item in our own facility, using a combination of traditional machinery and laser technology.

Why Assay Marks Matter

The UK Hallmarking system protects consumers by independently testing the metal content of silver and gold jewellery.

Assay marking is important because precious metals such as gold and silver are often too soft to be used in their pure form. They are usually combined with small amounts of metals such as copper to make the alloy more suitable for the jeweller to work with.

At MedicAlert, we insist on using the best quality precious metals. So when you see the assay mark on your gold or silver I.D. jewellery, you can trust in the purity of the piece.

To learn more about Assay Marks, visit the Birmingham Assay Office.

Sometimes designs change

We always listen to member feedback to see how we could improve on our medical ID jewellery and services. This means that from time to time, we may change components, change suppliers or the way our jewellery is configured to ensure the best quality, design and comfort.

We always reflect these changes in our product listings, which is why it's so important to check the product page for any changes.

Jewellery care

How to care for your MedicAlert ID jewellery

  • Wash metal and silicone straps regularly in warm, soapy water.
  • Spot clean fabric or leather straps and beads, using a damp cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive cloths and avoid contacts with cleaning products.
  • Perspiration, perfume and creams can increase tarnishing. Avoid contact where possible.
  • Please note; when your jewellery is new and highly polished, a cleaning cloth may dull its appearance.
  • Enamel can be affected by wear and tear. Avoid denting or scratching the enamel.
  • To avoid scratching, do not wear silver or gold jewellery alongside other items.
  • Do not bathe or swim in silver or gold jewellery.

Storing your jewellery

  • Store all jewellery individually, as storing jewellery together means that they could potentially damage one another.
  • Store in a cool, dark & dry environment – such as a jewellery box or pouch.

Jewellery warranty

We guarantee that your medical ID jewellery will be made to the highest standards by our expert jewellers and will be delivered to you in pristine condition.

MedicAlert provides a Warranty on all manufacturer defects from the dispatch date as follows:

  • 3 months for beaded items
  • 6 months for sports bands and activity bands
  • 12 months for all other jewellery

The Warranty covers: defects in the material or workmanship of clasps, chains, straps or wires, watch batteries and the readability of the disc.

The Warranty does not cover: repairs made by anyone other than our skilled jewellery team; products damaged from everyday wear and tear; tarnishing of silver; scratching of the disc, enamel, chain and attachments; damage resulting from misuse or accidental handling; exposure to lotions and creams; lost/misplaced products; and changes in engraved information after the engraved product is approved.

In the unlikely event that you have a problem with the jewellery within the warranty period, you can return the item to us for inspection and we will either repair or replace it.

Your statutory rights are not affected by this guarantee.

How we measure

Sizing Cone

Most of our jewellery is custom made to ensure a comfortable fit. Using our bracelet mandrel, we meticulously craft our jewellery ensuring the INNER circumference is accurate to your measurements, so that the size you order is what you will receive.

Please note:

There are two different methods for measuring your wrist correctly. Please follow the instructions below before you order your bracelet.

Inner Circumference

Measuring INNER circumference is especially important in chunkier bracelets. The difference can be as much as 3-4 cm depending style and design. This is why it is so important for you to follow the instructions below in order to measure your wrist correctly.

Please note:

Measuring one of your existing bracelets with a ruler is NOT recommended, as  it would indicate the wrong circumference.

How to measure your wrist

To choose your size, measure your wrist in centimetres. You may wish to add some additional length to your bracelet (comfort allowance), depending on your preference. You will need to measure your wrist rather than existing jewellery, as we make the size to the inner circumference of the bracelet or necklace, as shown above, rather than end-to-end on a ruler.

Use one of the following two methods for measuring your wrist:

1) Using a soft tape measure:

Wrap the tape measure snugly around your wrist and note the measurement Add your comfort allowance depending on preference.

2) Using string or a strip of paper and a ruler:

Wrap a piece of non-stretchy string or paper around your wrist. Cut or mark the string / paper where it meets the starting point Measure the flattened piece of string or paper against a ruler. Add your comfort allowance depending on preference.

Wrong measurement

Measuring one of your existing bracelets with a ruler is NOT recommended, as  it would indicate the wrong circumference, with a difference of 3-4 cm for some styles.

Necklace lengths

All necklaces can be ordered at the length to suit your needs. We measure the length as the total length of the chain, end to end.

To choose the right length necklace, you need to consider how long you would like it to hang. For instance, you may opt for a longer chain if you would like to slip the necklace over your head rather than use the clasp.

One helpful way to choose the right length is to measure a necklace that already fits you well.

We’ll need the measurement in centimetres, so please use a soft dressmaker’s tape measure to accurately measure.

  • 40 cm - Choker length
  • 45 - 50 cm - Collarbone
  • 50 cm - Just below the collarbone
  • 55 cm - At or below neckline
  • 60 cm - Below the neckline

We advise that our necklaces are suitable for children aged 11 and above.
