October Was a Treat for Us!

31 October 2019

When you think of October, you normally think of crunchy leaves, the weather getting colder and, of course, Halloween. For most, this means pumpkin carving and kids heading out trick or treating. MedicAlert was lucky this year - our season was a lot less spooky and served up a lovely treat - no tricks at all for us!

Earlier this month, we were delighted to join outstanding businesses from across Buckinghamshire to celebrate innovation, hard work and entrepreneurial vision. The evening included a number of award presentations, including the ‘Digital Innovation’ category for which MedicAlert had been nominated. Whilst we did not win, we would like to congratulate Care & Carers who were awarded first position. It was a competitive category and we are delighted to be recognised by Buckingham Business First.

Since February 2018, MedicAlert has worked to create a custom-made, world-class, bespoke website and member system. The platform supports the charity’s aim to continue offering the most complete and medically sound service available, whilst allowing for growth and change.

Since its launch in October 2018, members have been able to access their online medical record at any time, making changes or additions as often as required. The system has also improved internal workflows for our membership service advisors, production team and in-house registered nurses, to support best-in-class customer service and provide efficiencies to allow for future innovation.

Our CEO, Kirsten Giles, was delighted to be a finalist in these prestigious awards, saying:

“We are very proud to have been recognised by the Buckinghamshire Business Award for Digital Innovation. 55 years ago, we introduced our medical ID service to the UK. This recognition demonstrates that our new system and website provides for continued growth and change, to support our members living with medical conditions and continue to keep them safe in emergencies. It was an intense and rewarding year so it is great to be recognised for this significant project.”
