“It was the scariest thing that’s ever happened to me.”

Chloe Wright, known on social media as @adventuresofclobs, has been documenting her journey living with Type 1 Diabetes, sharing both the challenges and the resilience that comes with it.
But her diagnosis didn’t come overnight.
After months of extreme tiredness, headaches, and feeling unwell, Chloe initially thought it might just be stress. Even after visiting her doctor, it wasn’t immediately clear what was wrong. It wasn’t until further tests revealed elevated blood sugar levels that things began to make sense.
Eventually, Chloe was diagnosed with Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults (LADA), a slower-progressing form of Type 1 diabetes, sometimes referred to as Type 1.5.
At the time, Chloe was preparing to travel.
Just one day after leaving her job to explore Southeast Asia, she received the call confirming her diagnosis.
Despite her diagnosis, Chloe continued her travels - navigating a new condition while adjusting her medication and learning how her body responded.
For months, she managed her condition carefully. But then came a moment she’ll never forget.
“The lowest blood sugar I’ve ever had… was on the other side of the world, just a month into my diagnosis. It was the scariest thing that’s ever happened to me.”
Being far from home, in an unfamiliar place, made the experience even more overwhelming.
That experience changed everything.
Chloe now wears her MedicAlert ID every day giving her confidence that, no matter where she is, her vital medical information is always accessible.
Her ID contains details of her condition, that she is insulin-dependent, as well as emergency contacts and access to a 24/7 helpline.
“My information can be translated into over 100 languages… which would have come in really handy when I had my bad hypo abroad.”
For Chloe, it’s about more than just safety, it’s about peace of mind.
“Knowing that all of my information is in one place… if the worst happens, everything someone needs to know about me is on this bracelet.”
Now over a year on from starting insulin, Chloe continues to share her experience openly - helping others feel less alone and more informed.
Her journey is a reminder that while living with a condition like Type 1 diabetes can be unpredictable, being prepared can make all the difference
After a frightening hypo abroad, Chloe shares why she never goes without her MedicAlert ID.
