MedicAlert CEO, Rob Burley, attends national allergy strategy launch

21 April 2026 MedicAlert

Yesterday, MedicAlert CEO, Rob Burley, attended the launch of the UK National Allergy Strategy at the Houses of Parliament, marking a significant moment in the future of allergy care. The event brought together charities, healthcare professionals, policy makers and individuals living with allergies, with a shared mission to improve safety, understanding and support.

Representing MedicAlert at a national level

Rob attended on behalf of MedicAlert, ensuring the voices of those living with allergies and the importance of accessible medical information were part of the national conversation. Throughout the event, he heard directly from speakers and attendees about the realities of living with allergies.

Jodie Gosling MP, Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Allergies, spoke about the “constant vigilance” required by individuals and families, and the ongoing challenge of navigating care.

For Rob, this reinforced the critical role MedicAlert plays in supporting people beyond the clinical setting:

"We are passionate about partnership working and are excited about exploring how we can support the realisation of the National Allergy Strategy’s vision."

Listening to lived experience

A particularly powerful moment came from Ella Stoneham, who shared her experience of emergency situations where her condition was misunderstood. In some cases, first responders believed she may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol. For Rob, this highlighted a clear and urgent need. When someone cannot communicate, their medical information must speak for them.

Strengthening partnerships and influencing change

During the event, Rob held a series of conversations with key stakeholders, including Health Minister Sharon Hodgson and officials from the Department of Health and Social Care. These discussions focused on MedicAlert’s experience supporting people living with allergies, and how that work aligns with the Government’s wider NHS plans.

He also connected with health professionals, members of the National Allergy Strategy Group and partner organisations including Allergy UK, Anaphylaxis UK and the Natasha Allergy Research Foundation. These conversations reflected a shared commitment to improving outcomes through collaboration.

Enabling confidence, not just risk management

A key theme throughout the event, echoed by Allergy UK CEO Simone Miles, was the importance of helping people live well with allergies, not simply manage risk. This is a belief MedicAlert stands behind.

Rob’s presence at the launch reinforced MedicAlert’s role in enabling that confidence through accessible, life saving medical information.

Looking ahead

Reflecting on the event, Rob highlighted MedicAlert’s commitment to partnership and progress.

The National Allergy Strategy represents an important step forward, but its success will depend on continued collaboration across organisations, government and healthcare.

MedicAlert is ready to play its part.

By supporting people with allergies to be understood in critical moments, we help turn strategy into real world protection.
