Strengthening safeguarding across South Yorkshire: MedicAlert at the Integrated Care Board event

19 November 2025 MedicAlert

18 November 2025 - MedicAlert joined health professionals in Sheffield at the South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board training event. With more than 200 delegates in the room and a further 200 joining online, it was a powerful opportunity to share how simple tools can protect vulnerable people and guide carers with confidence.

The event brought together GPs, nurses and a wide range of primary care teams dedicated to safeguarding people who face greater risk in emergencies. For MedicAlert, it was an important moment to highlight how our charitable mission supports health professionals in their daily work and how together we can improve outcomes for those living with dementia and other medical conditions.

Leading the conversation on the Herbert Protocol

MedicAlert CEO, Rob Burley, delivered a session focused on the Herbert Protocol, a vital resource that supports safe and swift responses when a person living with dementia goes missing. The protocol gives carers and professionals the clarity they need in stressful moments, helping them act quickly with essential information ready to hand. MedicAlert nurse, Emma Brewer, was also there to speak to people about the importance of the charity's work.

Partnering to protect the most vulnerable

Throughout the day, we spoke with delegates about how MedicAlert can work hand in hand with clinical teams to safeguard people who live with dementia, rare conditions, allergies or other health concerns. Our service provides vital information in emergencies, giving first responders fast access to accurate records when every second matters.

Working together with primary care teams helps us protect those who are most at risk. When GPs and nurses understand how MedicAlert supports their patients, they can guide them towards life-saving tools that bring peace of mind to families and carers.

Looking Ahead

We are grateful to the South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board for inviting us to contribute to this important event. By deepening our partnerships across the region, we are helping build a community where every person feels safer, more confident and better supported.

If you are a clinician and would like to explore how MedicAlert can work with your practice or safeguarding team, we would be delighted to continue the conversation.

Stay safe. Live boldly
