World Diabetes Day

World Diabetes Day in an annual event that was created to raise awareness of the causes and effects of the disease, and most importantly, to encourage people to get checked as many people have diabetes without knowing. We aim to educate as many people as possible about diabetes and how essential it is to wear a diabetes bracelet at all times.

The theme for World Diabetes Day and month is "The Family and Diabetes".This year the International Diabetes Federation is focusing to raise awareness of the impact that diabetes has on a family and support network of those affected. As well as promote the role of the family in the management, care, prevention and education of diabetes.

Despite being a condition that many are familiar with and fully aware of, how much do you really know about diabetes? Do you know what to look out for and what the risks are? 

Up to 90% of indivduals are experiencing type 2 diabetes, a version where you may or may not require insulin. And as a growing condition that's affecting more and more younger people, it's important for the public to become aware of what to look out for and what to do if they suspect someone is having a hypo.
