Carers Week 2025: Caring About Equality

08 June 2025 MedicAlert

Their safety, your peace of mind.

Carers Week (9th to 16th June 2025) is a national campaign to recognise the incredible role of unpaid carers. These are people who give their time, energy, and care to support family members, friends, or neighbours living with long-term health needs or disabilities.

This year’s theme, "Caring About Equality", calls for a society where every carer feels seen, supported, and valued, no matter their age, background, or circumstances.

Whether you think of yourself as a carer or just someone “helping out,” this week is a reminder that what you do matters and that you shouldn’t have to do it alone.

Carers Are Everywhere - Often Unnoticed

Across the UK, more than 5.7 million unpaid carers are helping others with daily life. Many balance caring with full-time work or family responsibilities. Some may not even realise they are carers, simply doing what needs to be done for someone they care about.

But caring can come with challenges. Emotional strain, physical fatigue, financial pressure, and a sense of isolation are common experiences for many carers. Carers Week shines a spotlight on these realities and calls for greater awareness, practical support, and lasting recognition.

Supporting Carers with Reassurance When It’s Needed Most

At MedicAlert, we know that caring can bring uncertainty. We offer peace of mind through simple tools that help both you and the person you care for feel safer and more supported.

MedicAlert services include:

  • A nurse-reviewed, personalised medical record

  • A recognised medical ID that can be worn every day

  • 24/7 emergency support with access to that record

  • Translation into over 100 languages for support at home or abroad

If an emergency happens and you’re not there, help still knows what to do. That means reassurance, clarity, and confidence - in every moment.

The Goodwill Project: Support When You Need It

We understand that finances can be a concern. If the cost of a MedicAlert membership is a barrier, our Goodwill Project offers funded memberships for those in need.

When you register someone for MedicAlert, their emergency medical record can also include an emergency care plan which helps first responders understand not only their medical needs, but also how to best support them when you can’t be there.

Because carers should never be left without support, especially when it can make such a difference.

You Deserve Support Too

Caring is full of unknowns. But you don’t have to face them alone.

This Carers Week, we’re celebrating you and everyone who gives their time, care, and heart to someone else’s wellbeing.

Because behind every person supported is someone who gives so much. And that someone deserves to feel supported too.
