Welcome to the next generation of MedicAlert protection. Your custom ID now features a secure QR code alongside our trusted engraved data and 24/7 helpline. When scanned by emergency personnel, it reveals your essential medical profile—giving paramedics immediate, life-saving context when seconds count. Further detailed information will then be accessed as normal via the helpline.

You can scan your own physical ID. This will take you to a page with your emergency profile, which includes your name and critical medical conditions.
To protect privacy should your ID bracelet ever become lost, our QR codes strike a careful balance between providing critical emergency data and safeguarding personally identifiable details. Initial scans reveal only essential context—such as your photo (where available), first name, age, and key medical conditions—while comprehensive records and personal contact information remain securely gated behind a quick-dial link to our 24/7 helpline.
The system is set up to send an automated alert (via SMS or email) to you and your designated emergency contacts every time your QR code is scanned. This ensures you are always informed and can verify the activity in real-time.
Members can disable the QR link anytime via their member dashboard.
No. We use a 'Privacy by Design' approach. A scan reveals only your first name and age to the person scanning it. Highly sensitive medical details are kept secure and are only released to verified emergency personnel through our established 24/7 verification gate.
Our servers are located within the UK/EEA, ensuring full compliance with UK GDPR standards. We do not transfer personal data to third countries without robust legal and technical safeguards in place.
We employ enterprise-grade security protocols, including rate-limiting and bot-detection software, to prevent automated access, scraping, or mass data harvesting. The QR system is designed as a secure, interactive gateway, not an open database.
As a standard, we will always engrave the most vital data and 24/7 emergency helpline number, so that, in the unlikely scenario that there is an issue with scanning, your information is still accessible.
We have created this in collaboration with, and with the endorsement of the Royal College of Paramedics (RCoP). We are constantly trying to bridge the gap to get the most vital data to those who need it as quickly as possible.
If your ID is lost or stolen, you can immediately revoke access to the QR code via your online member portal or by contacting our Member Services team. This instantly severs the link between the QR code and your digital record.
No, the QR code is an optional, complimentary enhancement to your existing MedicAlert membership. We continue to offer traditional engraving and our 'Text ID' service to ensure all members have access to the service in a way that suits them.
While existing methods are reliable, QR codes offer a modern, rapid-access option for first responders. By reducing the time it takes to retrieve your critical information in an emergency, we can potentially improve the speed and accuracy of the care you receive. The telephone number will still remain an option for both QR code discs and non-QR code discs.
The QR code is designed to function internationally, provided the person scanning has an internet connection. However, please note that the 24/7 verification gate is primarily serviced in English, and full clinical record sharing is subject to the local infrastructure of the emergency services in the country of travel.
We are running a webinar to explain more about our new QR code IDs. The webinar will feature insights from paramedics.
