Leading the way in patient safety: MedicAlert at the Royal College of Paramedics national conference

26 May 2026 MedicAlert

At MedicAlert, our charitable mission is centred around your safety. We believe that everyone living with a medical condition or allergy deserves to feel supported, reassured, and protected, especially during emergencies. To ensure that vital information is seamlessly delivered in those crucial moments when every second counts, we actively collaborate with healthcare providers and first responders.

We were privileged to attend and exhibit at the Royal College of Paramedics national conference. The event provided a fantastic opportunity for our Chief Executive Officer, Rob Burley, and our MedicAlert registered nurse, Emma Brewer, to connect directly with the paramedic community.

Driving education and strengthening partnerships

Our presence at the conference was focused on raising awareness of the life-saving difference a medical ID membership makes. Rob and Emma engaged in vital discussions with chief paramedics, educators, qualified professionals, and student paramedics about the work we do.

A key topic of conversation was the critical importance of training first responders to look for MedicAlert IDs during an assessment. Because our IDs are worn on pulse points, such as bracelets or necklaces, they sit precisely where a paramedic checks for a pulse.

A message from our CEO, Rob Burley:

"Congratulations to Tracy Nicholls OBE FCPara and the Royal College of Paramedics team for a fantastic national conference. It is crucial that MedicAlert partners and collaborates with paramedics so that we raise awareness of our service and so that we can ensure it provides them with the best possible help when they are treating the people we support.

We had great conversations and were privileged to be invited to exhibit. Unsurprisingly, we also met some of our members, so getting their perspective as both types of users was incredibly valuable."

The event also featured exceptional educational sessions led by prominent clinical voices, including Nathan Jacques Le Blancq and Jay Banerjee, which highlighted the evolving landscape of emergency care.

More than just an ID

During the conference, our team demonstrated how a MedicAlert ID is a trusted lifeline in an emergency. The front of each emblem features our globally recognised logo, which includes the international symbol for medicine. The reverse reveals the member’s unique membership number, their critical medical details, and our 24/7 emergency telephone number, which can be accessed by first responders worldwide in over 100 languages and dialects.

We also shared what makes our service unique. MedicAlert does not just provide an ID. We manage a comprehensive, secure medical record that stores full medical histories, emergency contacts, and vital legal documents. Furthermore, our team of registered nurses checks every single record update to ensure total accuracy and reliability, giving first responders information they can depend on implicitly.
